The University of Ghana Medical center UGMC has been in the news for sometime after its completion for all the wrong reasons.
The bone of contention was on who had the right to operate the facility, the University or the Ministry of Health. This led to demonstrations by the general public using the hashtag #OpenUGMCnow to register their displeasure on the failure of authorities to open the health facility for business due to bureaucracy.
But it looks like the parties involved have now sorted out their differences and the Government of Ghana has assured Ghanaians that the new University of Ghana Medical Center will commence business on the 19th of July 2018.
In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show, the Minister of Information, confirmed that all the necessary arrangements are being done to ensure the hospital begins operations.
July 19 will be approximated 560 days since the official inauguration of the new super tertiary facility.
