There are so many different types of entertainers and entertainment that you can consider when booking for an event. Depending on the type of event you are planning, there are many different categories you can consider for entertainment.
Entertainment for a corporate event will be considerably different than entertainment for a children’s birthday party (although, does it have to be? Who wouldn’t love to leave a company-wide meeting with a balloon animal?). Here are several different types of live entertainment you should consider, and what types of events they would be most suitable for:
Live Bands, Musicians, and Professional DJs
A live band, solo musician, or professional DJ would be perfect for any event where you expect dancing, such as weddings, vow renewals, and anniversary parties. A cover band or DJ will get your guests on their feet and will encourage much more participation than a simple playlist would.
Live music would also be excellent for fundraisers, benefits, or outdoor events. A live musician or DJ will engage with the audience, and ideally bring attention to your cause or fundraising effort. Live music at an outdoor event will help draw attention and people to your event, if that is the goal, or make it more special and memorable for the invited guests attending.
Circus Performers, Dancers, Magicians
Circus performs, such as jugglers, acrobats, and clowns would obviously be the perfect addition to any birthday party for children. Dancers and magicians would also be at home at a kid’s birthday party, but could also alter their act for an adult audience and may be suitable for adult parties, such as theme parties or holiday parties.
This category of live performers would also be a great fit for any events associated with children, such as those planning children’s programs for libraries, museums, or stand-alone community events, such as fairs, “Touch-a-Trucks,” and festivals. But again, these performances do not have to be limited to events for children. They would be suitable for any event looking to add a little fun, so guests can get in touch with their inner child.
Speakers, Comedians, and Impersonators
For a slightly more serious event, such as a corporate retreat, you may consider inviting a live speaker. You can research a speaker who is well-versed in your field, or simply search for a highly regarded motivational speaker or similar.
If your corporate culture is more light-hearted, a comedian or impersonator might make sense for your event. Just make sure that your booked talent fits the theme and tone of the event you are planning. Speakers and comedians could also be good choices for a benefit or fundraiser. Again, just be sure you know your audience, and the tone you are aiming for.
Live entertainment is not only suitable for a variety of events, but can even enhance your event. From birthday parties to weddings to corporate events and benefits, there is a live entertainer available to meet your needs and make your event outstanding.
