The Ghana Education Service GES, has responded to allegations by some textile workers it has overlooked the local textile industry to import the new school uniforms meant for public Junior high schools from outside the country.
In a statement responding to the allegations, GES categorically denied it had imported or contracted any foreign or local company to import the uniform.
The statement further said parents are the ones supposed to get the uniform for their wards as has been the practice and the textile can be sourced from local markets.
It also intimated that the uniform is not compulsory and that GES will allow some time to elapse before eventually phasing the old uniform out.
