WAEC suspends WASSCE 2020 until further notice

The West African Examination Council WAEC has in a statement said it is suspending the 2020 West African Secondary School Examination until further.

The letter sighted by Ghanatribune.com and copied to all member countries, says the decision is due to the coronavirus pandemic and the protocols put in place by governments of member countries.

The letter dated 20th March said “the negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by govemments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Offices.”

SUSPENSION OF WASSCE (SC) 2020 TIMETABLE

Our memorandum referenced REG.4.01WASSCE/XxI/202 dated March 19, 2020 on the above-mentioned subjcct refers.

The negative impact of the novel and deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by govemments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Offices.

Please note that the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule WASSCE (Sc) 2020 was approved by the Chaiman of Council.

Consequently, the Registrar hereby directs that the WASSCE (SC) 2020 Timetable be suspended until further notice; the conduct of WASSCE (SC) 2020 be put on hold until further notice; directives (1) and (2) will be reviewed when the health situation improves.

Kindly note the infornation for further action and communicate the directives to the Ministry of Education and the general public in your country.
