Two individuals, known in social media circles as Ekumfi Kane and Ernesto Yeboah have been arrested today for demonstrations at the premises of parliament against the proposed Construction of a new Parliamentary chamber.
In a video by 3news, police is seen pinning one down to the ground, handcuffing him before leading him away. The two are said to be held at the parliament police station awaiting to be transferred.

News of the proposal to build a new 450 seater chamber for the parliament of Ghana was met with anger and a strong opposition by people from various facets of Society. The debate has been rife on especially on social media where people have called out MPs for being greedy and insensitive to the needs of the population and misprioritizing state funds.
A demonstration christened #DropthatChamber is set to occur on 6th July 2019 against the proposal although all signs indicate the building of the new chamber will be shelved due to the opposition it has come up against.
