Two police officers feared drowned after boat capsized on Oda river

Information reaching Nsemwoha News, indicates the Ghana police service are in a frantic search for two of their colleagues in the River Oda after a canoe they were traveling in capsized at around 1:00pm Wednesday afternoon.

Two lance corporals, Stephen Kyeremeh and Amedius Akwesi Boateng, both of Obuasi District Police Command are feared to have drowned in the Oda River at Kobro, a village near Jacobu.

The two corporals and two sergeants namely, Isaac Nyamekye and James Ahiman were on duty on the Obuasi – Dunkwa highway patrol when they received a distress call that some small scale miners were being attacked by armed robbers, so they proceeded to Kobro.

The officers in an effort to get to the scene, hired a canoe to cross the Oda River to the site where the robbery attack was in progress but the robbers reportedly escaped upon seeing Police.

On their way back, the canoe on which all were on board unfortunately capsized and the two sergeants managed to swim ashore while the two Lance Corporals together are yet to traced.
