African reggae/dancehall stalwart, Livingstone Etse Satekla, known worldwide as Stonebwoy has finally spoken in full detail about the accident which led to him losing one leg.
Appearing as the main guest on UTV’s United Showbiz hosted by Nana Ama McBrown, Stonebwoy said the January 19, 2003 accident was caused by a police vehicle on the Tema Motorway.
Narrating how it unfolded, the ‘Nominate’ hitmaker said he and his family, which included his father and elder sister, were heading home to Ashaiman from Accra and were driving on the Accra-Tema lane as required but then the unfortunate happened.
He said he told his father to stop for a minute near the old location of the toll booth for him to urinate, and not more than a minute after they returned to the motorway to continue their journey, a police SUV which had somersaulted, run with full momentum into their vehicle.
Speaking of injuries, he described that his father broke some ribs, his elder sister who currently lives in the USA had some cuts and suffers chronically till this day.
He obviously broke his leg and had to spend six months in hospital receiving treatment and recovering. He recently had the leg fixed in the US and now walks with a metal fixed in his leg.
He however dispelled the widely held notion that it was in this accident that his twin brother died, saying he died in their infancy.
