Fulani herders and farmers for decades have been at loggerheads, a conflict that sometimes gets bloody and fatal, with farmers blaming the free grazing cattle of destroying their crops while the herders blame farmers for killing their cattle.
Major hotspots where the fulani-farmer conflict is persistent include Afram plains in the Kwahu North District and Agogo in the Asante Akim North district.
Government of Ghana, in an effort to bring some lasting solution to the decades-old conflict has constructed cattle ranches, where the herders can rear their cattle to prevent the destruction of farmers crops, concomitantly saving lives.
