Election 2020 is just a year away and many parties are gearing up for the contest and in doing so have to get competent people to contest in the Parliamentary polls in each of the 275 constituencies in Ghana.
The Opposition NDC closed their nomination and filling of candidature last week and it has been revealed afterwards that many women have picked forms to contest in the primaries with the hope of making it to the 7th parliament of the fourth republic in 2021.
Among these women is former deputy Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, the former Actress and TV personality is vying in the Ketu South Constituency.
Although Ghana has made strides in terms of getting a substantial number of women representation in parliament, more needs to be done to bridge the gap and get more women lawmakers.
It is therefore commendable that a good number of women are contesting this time and it is expected that it will be same in the other major political parties in the country.
