Rarely do you see a member of the political elite doing the work of a cleaner but Dr. Okoe Boye, Honourable member of parliament for Ledzokuku Constituency has changed that notion. The young and energetic Medical doctor and politician is seen as a down to earth person and has the common touch despite the heights he has reached in life.
He’s known for organizing frequent health screening for the people in his constituency, playing soccer with the local youth team and frequent house to house visits to listen to the concerns of his constituents.
On Saturday, which was a national sanitation day, the MP joined his constituents in cleaning up gutters in the Teshie Municipality. Not only was he there to provide moral support but Dr. Boye geared-up, grabbed a shovel and started clearing rubbish and silt out of the choked gutters.
This act is very commendable and it is the hope that many politicians who feel too big to associate with constituents can learn from him.
