The Emile Short commission which has been tasked with getting to the root of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence yesterday interviewed DSP Samuel Azugu, Commander of the National Security Team who were deployed to the AWW.

He claimed to the commission, when asked why the masks were necessary, that ‘His men wore masks in certain operations mostly to avoid mosquito bites’.

The reply got many Ghanaians incensed and outraged while others were quite amused to the extend of trying on masks and posting on social media apparently to mock the supposed daft reply.

The by-election which was held on the 31st of January 2019 to elect a member of parliament to replace the Late Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko saw some violence perpetrated by people supposedly from the national security who were masked on individuals and even a member of Parliament.

18 people sustained gunshot injuries although no deaths were recorded.
