In Ghana, Kanzo is a major part of the joy of eating cooked rice and although people love it here, it would be hard to fathom packaged Kanzo selling at a premium price.
Well an innovative entrepreneur in the United states of America has taken advantage of the love for the slightly burnt part of cooked rice known locally as Kanzo to make some hard dollars.
The Kanzo which has been rebranded with a fancy name, “Scorched Rice” is sold at supermarkets for $7.58 per 1.3lb.
Newscaster and TV personality Nana Aba Anamoah spotted the product and posted it on her Instagram page with the caption;
“They’re selling kanzo at $7.58 and calling it a fancy name. ????????♂️ Scorched rice”
