Brazilian forward, Oscar Dos Santos Emboada Junior has bemoaned the massive criticism he received following his big money move to far away China.
Oscar shocked the world with his big money move from Chelsea leaving the Elite English Premier League to play for Chinese side Shanghai SIPG in 2017.
The cacophony of voices that called out Oscar for following money into a much obscured league probably reached its apogee for Oscar and he came out to respond to the criticism in an emotional and honest interview with COPA90 football which we revisit.
Oscar, explained that he is from a poor family in Brazil and it is his responsibility to help his family out with the chance he has.
He further stated that Footballers are like all other workers, they work to earn money and in his case, he is motivated not just by money but the need to help his family from the ditches of poverty.
“I am criticized for coming to China. Footballers are like any other worker, we want to earn money and help our families. I come from a poor family in Brazil, I do this for them. I cash what I get because I deserve it. I have the right to choose where I want to play. ” he said in the interview two years ago.
