Ghanaians woke up this morning to pictures of blood, allegedly from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Blood bank and a lab report posted by one Addo Kwabla-Evans, claiming the said blood meant for transfusion to a patient was HIV and Syphilis positive. The lab report, from a facility known as Kean Medical center in Kumasi.
This post went viral with many people either bashing the health workers who screened the blood while others debunked the report as fake.
This has caused the administration of KATH where the said blood was bought from to release a press statement, in which they said they have constituted a committee to investigate the allegations in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.
They urged the patient and family to turn over the blood for testing and further investigation. They also assured the public that their screening process was according to standards and that they shouldn’t panic.
