Is there enmity between the health minister and the president?

Here’s one fun fact, the president didn’t know the happenings in the health ministry. Did he forget?, did someone forget to update him or could there be some enmity between the boss and his appointee?

On Wednesday, 19th January, the president met with the press in what was dubbed the ‘Presidential Encounter with the media’ where he updated the media and by extension the Ghanaian public on the current state of the country in all aspects of governance.

There was, as part of the program a question and answer section where the press asked questions of their concern which was then answered by the president.

One thing that many Ghanaians noticed with concern was the fact that the president seemed to know much about what was going on in other ministries but the health ministry. The health minister had to answer almost all the questions posed and in his answers made a remark that gave a hint of possible enmity between him and his boss.

Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said “I booked an appointment to meet with the president” but later they sent messages that they wanted to organize a sod cutting for the project”……….

The president didn’t know about this and obviously he never met the president. The president is supposed to be updated on all issues within the ministries so how was he not in the know of such a significant project that the Minister had met others to initiate?

The president had to call again on the minister to answer another question asked by another journalist. Some Ghanaians made light of the happenings on social media, with some suggestions indicating enmity or total incompetence on the part of the minister while other called for his sacking.
