The president of the republic of Ghana, His excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced his government will be absorbing this year’s WASSCE Examination fees for all final year students in the Senior High schools.
He made this announcement in his 12th address to the nation on the measures put in place by government to curb the pandemic.
A total number of 313,837 final year students will benefit from this move, costing Ghana a total amount of GHC75.4 million he said.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, Government will absorb the WASSCE examination fees of the 313,837 SHS 3 students who will sit for the exam. GHC75.4 million will be spent on this.
I take this opportunity to assure all parents and guardians that Government is determined to protect the lives of the 800,000students, teachers and non-teaching staff, who will be returning to school from tomorrow. I will be the last person to put the lives of the Akufo-Addo graduates’ at risk.” he said.
This year’s final year SHS students mark the first batch of high school students to graduate since the Free SHS policy was enacted by this government.
