The lady is said to have struggled and called for help but people were afraid to go near her. It was Mr. Gwamnishu who hurried there to convey her to hospital after seeing a post about her condition on social media.

The post alleged she was used for rituals by an alleged ‘Yahoo boy’, a case that’s all too frequent in Nigeria.

Doctors who immediately suspected her situation to be contagious refused the lady care until she passed away, Mr. Gwamnishu said.

Mr. Gwamnishu himself has been quarantined in the hospital awaiting further tests to ascertain what killed the lady, whether it was contagious and whether he has been infected too.

“Pray you don’t find yourself in a situation where everyone will abandon you, look on and make a video of you.

That’s the story of this young girl lying dead in FMC Asaba. I saw a post by Christian Onwugbolu and I quickly rushed to FMC roundabout where I saw a thousand crowds gathered watching her struggling. Don’t blame them. Blame your unjust system.

I pleaded they help me put her in my car. They did and none agreed to join me. I took her to FMC, parked and the Doctor and nurses asked: “Did you touched her?” I said YES… and they all ran away from me. Some members of the Red Cross stayed. She died, none attend to her. They said they suspected it’s an epidemic.

They want to quarantine me, they are assuming it’s epidemic #NotConfirmed ???? ???? ????”

Many Nigerians travel each day to China for business and commerce and therefore the risk of one carrying the virus back into the country is high.
