The Ghana police service has released a statement saying clearly that the uniformed officer seen kicking a boy accused of theft at Swedru is not a member of the service as was rightly reported by nsemwoha.com.
The video which went viral shows a uniformed Metro Guard dealing a flying kick to the head of a boy on his knees. The police service received much condemnation when people mistook the uniformed metro guard for a police officer.
In the statement, the police wrote: “The police administration further emphasizes that the person seen kicking the victim in the video is not a police officer”.
The statement also said the police divisional command at Swedru were investigating the matter.
