Ghana offers each Covid-19 frontline health worker $61,000 life insurance cover

The ministry of health in Ghana has insured the lives and health of front line health workers in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

This was revealed in a letter signed by the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu to all heads of agencies under the ministry.

The minister said it has secured insurance to cover frontline health and allied professionals in the fight against Covid-19 as follows:

Group life – GHC350,000 per life, Critical illness – GHC25,000 per life, Total temporal disability (all causes) – GHC10,000.

The total premium of the various insurance comes to a sum of GHC10,309,919.94.
