FINALLY: Here is a complete list of the projects under the Sinohydro Pact with China

Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sinohydro Corporation Limited, an energy firm, for the execution of a number of key projects across the country at an estimated cost of $4 billion.

The Chinese state-owned company would, among other things, undertake projects including a multipurpose hydro at Pwalugu, a Volta Lake Transportation, an Accra Flood Prevention, as well as other priority infrastructure projects like garbage treatment plants, solar power plants and rail.

This brings to $19 billion the commitments made by the Chinese Government and its agencies following the acceptance of the financing model proposed by Ghana’s Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, during his recent state visit to the People’s Republic of China.

The deal involved the leveraging of a fraction of Ghana’s bauxite deposits

The deal was approved by parliament on 28th July. Below, we list the projects in the pact.

SINOHYDRO COMPLETE PACT;

1) GHC 70.5 million grant: 500 police vehicles.

2) GHC 35.3 Million grant: 4 naval patrol boats.

3) Fund for 90 bridges across the country.

4) Fund for Tamale Interchange at ‘Point 7’.

5) Fund for New Ultramodern National Psychiatric Hospital.

6) Extension of Railway Line to Paga.

7) Extension of Railway Line to Boankra Inland Ports and

8.) Paga inland terminal, 910 km of road network.

9) Construction of 10 Ten industrial parks.

10) Construction of 25,000 houses for the security services.

11) Construction of 100,000 social housing units.

12) Construction of 25 district hospitals.

13) Construction of Western Regional Hospital.

14) Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of 8,286 collapsing classrooms.

15) Upgrading of 42 SHSs into model schools.

Adequate provision of Teaching and Learning Materials.

16) 228 Buses for schools.

17) 198 Pickup trucks for schools.

18) has Construction of modernize Irrigation and water transmission systems in northern Ghana.
