Electoral Commission Resumes Replacement of Lost Voters ID Cards

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has said it will resume the replacement of lost voter identity cards for persons who for one reason or the other have lost their Biometric Voters ID Card.

The exercise which was paused prior to the recent limited registration exercise to allow the commission to focus on the task at hand will resume tomorrow, Thursday, 8th of August, 2019.

A statement released by the Electoral Commission of Ghana read:

The Electoral commission wishes to announce for the information of the General Public that it would resume the replacement of Lost Voter ID Cards in all its districts offices nationwide from Thursday, 8th of August, 2019.

The replacement of the lost Voters ID Cards was suspended to enable the commission concentrate on the 2019 Limited Voters Registration Exercise.

To replace a Lost Voters ID Card, an applicant would be required to pay a replacement fee of five Ghana Cedis (GHC5). Fees are to be paid into the commission’s bank and the pay slip submitted to the District Office where the initial registration took place.

Fees may be paid at any branch of GCB Bank Nationwide.”
