News reaching Nsemwoha.com has it that, veteran Nigerian afrobeats star, D’banj has been cleared of the rape allegations leveled against him by a young lady by name, Seyitan.
A couple of months ago, the ‘fall in love’ hit maker was entangled in the middle of rape allegation heaped on him by Miss Seyitan. The lady accused him or raping her as far back as 2011 but she only decided to call the singer out when he tweeted condemning rape and rapists.
It was alleged that she was been tortured whiles in police custody by the police who allegedly arrested her.
But according to investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, the police after a thorough investigation into the matter have not established any wrongdoing on the part of D’banj. Moreover, the case against D’banj was withdrawn by the accuser herself for apparent lack of evidence to support her claim according to the investigative journalist.
She tweeted: “EXCLUSIVE: I was RIGHT all along. It cost me a lot of time, money, my health and sometimes integrity but I ONLY investigate the truth. #defendmediafreedom
Dbanj has been vindicated by @policeng of RAPING Seyitan. I will now detail findings of their investigation.
@PoliceNG cleared @iamdbanj 100% after fully carrying out an investigation and in parallel Ms Seyitan who pleaded and WITHDREW her petition. It is important to pay close attention to real rape accusations vs fake accusations so as to protect the innocent rape victims #kemitalks
Here are legal documents I obtained in the case and the recommendation of @policeng
I implore the Nigerian mainstream media to get more involved in investigative journalism especially RAPES. It is important to protect the innocently accused. #kemitalks
