Many governments are putting in measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic that’s ravaging through nations worldwide.
One extreme and scientifically potent measure is a lockdown. In pursuant of that, many governments have ordered their citizens to stay home and self isolate.
Same has been the call of many frontline health workers who are facing the full brunt of stressed healthcare systems and putting their lives on the line.
The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo in his address to the Nation and perhaps citizens of the world have asked people to consider this, while we may want to continue pursuing our economic activities to make ends meet, a bad individual or national economic situation is better than dead people.
In one profound quote, he explained that economies can be revived as history shows we have always bounced back from the numerous recessions that the world has faced in the past, but one thing that no one can do, is to restore life to dead people.
“We know how to bring the economy back to life, What we do not know is how to bring dead people back to life” he wrote, alluding to the fact that the protection of life must be prioritized over economic gains.
