🚩 Mobile Money Interoperability (MMI) recorded more than 4.4 million transactions in its first year of operation. Beginning with just 96,907 transactions in its first month, public usage of the cross-network platform grew phenomenally to 422,275 transactions in December last year and 502,873 transactions in May this year. The Chief Executive Officer of GhIPSS, Archie Hesse in an interview described the MMI initiative as successful.

🚩 Foreign investment in sub-Saharan Africa rose 13% last year to $32 billion, bucking a global downward trend and reversing two years of decline, according to a United Nations report. Development of new mining and oil projects, a new U.S. development-finance institution and the ratification of an agreement to create a continent-wide free-trade area could further boost foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2019, it said.

🚩 The AngloGold Ashanti Malaria Control Limited (AGAMAL) has successfully completed its active Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) operations for the year 2019 in 16 Municipal and District Assemblies in Ghana. The assemblies include Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East District, both in the Ashanti Region and Kasena Nankana West, Bulsa North and Bulsa West in the Upper East Region as well as all the 11 Municipal and District Assemblies in the Upper West Region.

🚩 Dr Hafiz Bin-Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, has said government supplied 1.5 million bags of fertilizer to farmers in the Region for the 2019 farming season to boost production and guarantee food security. The fertilizer forms part of government’s commitment to its pro-poor policy, Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ). The Minister said this when the General Manager of Ghana News Agency, Mr Albert Kofi Owusu, called on him at the Regional Coordinating Council to deepen working relationship with the GNA and the RCC.I
